Because of the dominance of positivistic approaches in psychology, exploring the subjective experiences of patients neglected, it is more prominent in patients with schizophrenia. The present researchers understand the meaning of their lived experience and their perception of themselves. Recently, researchers have emphasized the importance of first-person’s information of patients. This study was conducted to understand the self-experience in schizophrenia. This was a qualitative case study (phenomenological design). Since the purpose of the research was the study of lived experience of participant, the phenomenological method used in this study. Participant was selected using purpose-oriented sampling. He is male, 36 years and with chronic schizophrenia. In-depth semi-structured interviews were recorded. External resources and participation records were also analyzed. Texts were analyzed by interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) method. The main themes include: the timing and location of self -experience, decreased agency, self -metaphor and mirror and physical aversion. The findings were approved theories of psychoanalysis, narrative and dialogical self.

The main purpose of the present study is to establish a theoretical framework for existential psychotherapy and develop an existential psychotherapy package on the basis of Mowlana’s thoughts. It also aims at evaluating the effectiveness of the therapy proposed in decreasing depression and improving the ego development level. The study design consisted of two distinct qualitative and quantitative parts. The methodology applied for the quantitative part was pretest-posttest with control group. The statistical population was clients of mental health centers of the universities located at Tehran over summer and autumn 2010. Of this, 32 students were randomly selected to participate in the study. The experimental group was treated with the therapy proposed while the control group did not receive any treatment. According to the statistical analyses (co-variance and t-test), the therapy proposed was found to be effective in decreasing depression as well as increasing the ego development level among the participants. This finding is of great importance due to the high prevalence of depression in most of the societies and the necessity of its treatment by an efficient method as well as the importance of ego development level and the need for reaching a method for its improvement. Therefore, it can be concluded that in addition to opening new directions in different fields of psychology, including religion psychology, personality psychology, and psychopathology, this work can be considered as a multidisciplinary study which bridges the three fields of psychology mentioned.

This study compares the effectiveness of two Behavioral Approach (BA) and Adler-Dreikurs parent training approach on improving family environment components. For this purpose, Barkley program (BA) and STEP (Adler-Dreikurs approach) were utilized. Five schools were selected randomly from region 7 in Tehran and 60 parents whose 7-11 years old boys had received the highest scores on Child Symptom Inventory (CSI-4) were randomly assigned into Behavioral, Adlerian and control groups. For data collection, in addition to CSI-4, the Family Environment Scale (FES. In order to analyze the data, Analysis of Covariance test, two-way ANOVA and Tukey and Bonferroni Correction follow up tests were used. Analysis of research findings showed in Adlerian group, control and conflict components of family environment reduced, and intellectual-cultural orientation and moral-religious emphasis increased. But in Behavioral group just conflict reduced. Considering the role of family environment on the formation of conduct disorder in children, indicating the effectiveness of Adler most important way in adopting this method, therapeutic strategies are appropriate for conduct disorder.
